Daniel is a book full of gripping stories and vivid prophecies. And although they are all completely real and true, they are not the point of the book. Daniel lived as an exile for over 70 years. Not the life he wanted; serving evil kings in evil kingdoms. The book of Daniel offers us hope that even as exiles ourselves, living in a world very different from the Kingdom of God, we can not only survive but thrive. The life Daniel of shows us that we can be faithful in exile, focusing on the promise of God, that he will one day rescue the world and his people and bring his Kingdom to its full fruition.
